Sunshine Hospital Plant Room Roof Refurbishment: Safe Access Walkway

This hospital minor construction maintenance project demonstrates the variety of work we do at Symmetry Commercial.

At Western Health‘s Sunshine hospital we designed, manufactured and installed an aluminium walkway on a plant room roof. complying with all the relevant standards for compliance and safety. Using simple but effective plans and information from the client we delivered a fully compliant walkway. A walkway allowing the client to perform their hospital maintenance duties in a safe manner.

  • AS/NZ 1657-2018 Fixed Platforms, Walkways, Stairways and Ladders
  • Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004
  • Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017

This project was managed by Steve Dooley over a longer than usual period with an unplanned delay from the client after works had begun. Changed access and vehicle arrangements and unplanned storage of manufactured walkway were issues handled with ease. This project demonstrated our flexibility when working in a complex environment, on its roof, during normal operational times – recalling hospitals work 24/7, 365 days a year and have no shutdown period.

Symmetry Commercial worked with the medical facilities management client completing the  project with minimum fuss resulting in this feedback:
